I recently had the great pleasure of being a guest on The Gentry Show in the beautiful Napa Valley! This experience was both exciting and enlightening, as it offered me the chance to share my passion for fine linens with a wider audience. The show is being aired as a two-part series, with the first part having premiered in August and the second part continuing to air throughout September. Be sure to tune in on Sundays at 2 PM and Mondays at 5 PM on Channel 28 to catch all the fascinating details!

Stepping into the Studio

Stepping into the studio was a new experience for me. I had to quickly get accustomed to the technical aspects of filming, like understanding that the red light meant "on" and the green light meant "off." It was both nerve-wracking and exciting to be in front of the camera, but once I sort of got the hang of it, I was able to relax a bit and enjoy sharing what I know and love about linens.

A Deep Dive into the History and Craft of Linens

During my time on the show, I delved into the rich history of weaving and dyeing techniques that have shaped the way we create and appreciate linens today. It's amazing to consider how ancient civilizations perfected these crafts, setting the stage for the luxurious textiles we enjoy in our homes now. I was excited to share stories about the evolution of these techniques, from the early days of hand-spun threads to the sophisticated, high-quality linens that grace our homes.

Essential Knowledge for Linen Lovers

I also covered some basics that everyone should know about linens. Whether you're new to the world of fine linens or a seasoned connoisseur, understanding the different types of weaves, the importance of thread count, and how to properly care for your linens can make a significant difference in how long they last and how good they feel. I explained the distinctions between common terms like percale and sateen and offered tips on how to keep your linens looking their best for years to come.

Why Linens Matter

Linens are more than just fabric; they are an integral part of our daily lives and play a crucial role in our comfort and well-being. Quality linens can transform a bedroom into a sanctuary and make everyday moments feel like special occasions. By understanding the history, craftsmanship, and care involved, we can appreciate the true value of these beautiful textiles.
