1880 Paris Silk & Velvet Panel Pillows | Olive, Cognac & Cream | 20 inch
1880 Parisian Silk & Velvet Panel Pillows
A rare pair of pillows crafted from an original 1880 Parisian silk panel woven with an integrally woven velvet motif. The textile was commissioned during a honeymoon in Paris and later installed in a private Arkansas library, where it hung for more than a century.
Carefully preserved behind interior blinds, the fabric survived while much of the surrounding drapery deteriorated from sun exposure. Today the textile retains its luminous olive silk ground and richly dimensional velvet pattern in cream and cognac.
Thoughtfully restored and sewn in Sonoma, these pillows offer a remarkable fragment of decorative textile history.

Original 1880 Parisian Silk Panel
This photograph shows the lower portion of one of the original panels acquired from the Arkansas estate where the textiles hung in the family library for generations. Three pairs of panels were originally purchased in Paris in 1880.
The pillows were created from a panel that sustained minor water damage, allowing portions of the historic textile to be preserved and reimagined.
Construction
The historic silk and velvet face has been stabilized with a discreet backing to preserve the antique textile while allowing the velvet motif to retain its dimensional beauty.
The reverse is finished in Kearsley Essentials 600 thread count sateen in Chestnut, creating a refined ¼ inch frame visible on the face.
Each pillow is filled with luxurious down and feather inserts and sewn in Sonoma.
